Bloops

Bloops is an inclusive emotional awareness tool designed to help young autistic children recognise, express, and manage their emotions during the transition into primary school. The app supports communication between home and school, allowing parents to share helpful insights and teachers to understand each child’s emotional needs throughout the day. Alongside this, the Bloops storybook introduces classmates to the experiences of neurodiverse children, encouraging empathy and awareness from an early age. This project was inspired by my younger brother, who is autistic and preparing to start school. Watching him navigate emotions and new environments showed me how overwhelming this stage can be, not just for him but for our whole family. Many parents of autistic children act as their child’s main communicator, and Bloops was designed to help ease that worry by providing reassurance that their child is understood and supported, even when they can’t be there.
