Motion Design

Amelia Peasey

Domain

For my graduate project I created Domain, a four-player town building board game inspired by D&D and European strategy games. Players take on the role of founders guided by ancient statues, the Architect, Maestro, Thief, and Alchemist, each shaping how their towns are built, how resources are managed, and how quests are completed to claim victory.

The core focus of this project has been illustration. I researched existing board games to understand how visual design communicates mechanics and atmosphere, then developed my own illustrative style to bring Domain to life. Alongside illustration I explored what makes games engaging, which mechanics players enjoy, and how to translate these into a complete play experience. It was an ambitious project that ranged from designing character and structure art to creating player boards and the game box itself.

My studies at Ara have supported this process, giving me a strong foundation in illustration and visual storytelling. Over the past three years I have also gained skills in animation, 2D motion graphics, and video editing, while building my personal art portfolio. I am excited to take the next step into the creative industry, where I can continue developing as an illustrator and designer.
