Heavenly Hydrangeas

After my internship at Kowtow, I designed this collection “Heavenly Hydrangeas,” from the design brief we collaborated on together. The brief was “How can I develop a denim collection that embodies Kowtow's design philosophies: timeless, functional, and sustainably crafted?”

I took inspiration through Kowtow's inhouse fabric textile design process. Drawing on this, I developed my own denim lace textile as the feature of the collection. The lace was inspired by blue hydrangeas, flowers that hold both fragility and resilience, it was handmade through a process of laser-cutting floral motifs from recycled jeans. This process not only gave new life to pre-worn garments but also embodied Kowtow’s philosophy of sustainably crafted textiles. The collection focuses on simple silhouettes with features of the timeless 60s Mod dress silhouette, to allow the craftsmanship of the lace to be the focal point of the collection.

“Heavenly Hydrangeas” demonstrates how sustainable practices and textile innovation can be integrated into contemporary fashion. The collection shows how thoughtful material experimentation, combined with simple and functional silhouettes, can produce garments that are both sustainable and timeless. In doing so, it reflects Kowtow’s design values while offering a new perspective on denim.
