Applied Visual Arts

Hayley Morrison

My body of work aims to explore feelings of safety, peace, magic and escapism. I contrast pleasant imagery with some unpleasant imagery and themes, to conceptualise my feelings and fears about the world.

I’ve taken inspiration from things in my life like me and cats, plants, New Zealand birds, animals, nature, and cottage architecture. To show fear I’ve taken inspiration from pollution, violence and apathy.

I primarily work with acrylic paint and enjoy creating and working with 3D objects. I like my work to incorporate lots of colour, as well as light and texture. The most important thing for me is that I enjoy the creative process and producing artworks that I feel satisfied with.
