Motion Design

Jamie Harper

I have always enjoyed creating videos to tell stories, so for my final project I chose to make a short documentary about young people taking climate action. I wanted to expand my skills in storytelling and post-production, while creating an informative project that motivates people to act on this serious and pressing issue.

I was inspired to make this film because I wanted to tell an uplifting story about climate action and spread awareness about everyday actions people could be taking for the environment. Since the news constantly broadcasts negative viewpoints about the future, it is important that people believe that positive change is possible.

Alongside expanding various technical skills during my time at Ara, I have also strengthened my existing skillset in illustration and video editing, culminating in combining them for my final project.

I have learned a lot here at Ara, as well as gained valuable connections with other people moving into the creative industries. Following graduation I plan to continue with tertiary education, expanding my knowledge so I can use my design skills in the field of science communication.
