Motion Design

Sophie Vuleta

I have always been entranced by stories that give life to what is inhuman, fantasy settings which give us the vector to explore parallels into our own world.

I used this project to ask the question of what the perspective would be of nature personified in deforestation and environmental degradation. What would such a character be like?

I was inspired by mythological and fictional portrayals of anthropomorphized nature. The goal was to create a character that visually embodied the concept of a spiteful old creature defending its natural environment, that has become jaded by the destruction of the world around it.

The resulting renders have been created using the skills that I have developed through Ara, such as digital illustration, 3D art and animation, which I used to bring this fully hand-modelled and hand-painted 3D character to life. After my studies here, I hope to continue developing these skills that the Motion Design course has taught me and follow my creative passions in character design and 3D art.
